Is my website live? How do I publish it?
Your website is live just moments after signing up. All changes you make and save to your site are immediately visible to the outside world as well. You can see it online by visiting the link http://yoursite.jimdo.com, just replace yoursite with your own username.
Can I hide my site while I'm building it? Do you have an "Under Construction" page?
Yes, you can! There are a couple of ways to do it. Check out How to Create an Under Construction Page for more info.
I'm not sure where to start. Where can I see examples of cool websites built with Jimdo?
Visit our Examples page for inspiration. Each example includes a link to the live website, and the name of the template that the customer is using.
How do I move an existing website to Jimdo?
While it's not possible to import websites at this time, populating a Jimdo website with content is easy, and can be done quickly with our built-in tools. Here is a guide to help you move content from an outside website to one on Jimdo.
Why does some content show up on every page of my website?
Jimdo websites have two content areas: a main area and a sidebar. Any content that is placed in the sidebar will appear on all pages. Depending on your template, this sidebar may actually appear at the bottom of your website. This is the perfect place for your share buttons and contact information.
If you don't want the stuff in your sidebar to show up on multiple pages, simply move it into the main content area of the page where you would like it to appear.
Can I hide the login link on the bottom of my website?
Pro/Business and Platinum customers can hide the login link by opening the Menu and going to Settings > General and unchecking the “Login link” box under Footer subheading.
How do I move elements from one page of my website to another?
You can move an element by clicking on it, then clicking the crosshairs on the right side, and then dragging it into the clipboard area at the top of the page. You can then move to the page where you want the element to go, grab the element from the clipboard, and move it into the content area. Here's a step-by-step on how to do it, with pictures!
How do I make hyperlinks on my Jimdo website?
There are different methods of creating links with Jimdo: text, photo, button, etc. Usually you'll insert a link by clicking on the little chain icon inside an element. This guide will walk you through the specifics.
How do I link to a spot on the same page? Can I make anchor links?
Yes, you can certainly make anchor links. Our tutorial will show you how to do it.
Can I make a multilingual or bilingual site?
You bet. This guide will walk you through the easy steps.

Where can I find good images to use on my website for free?
There's a ton of websites out there where you can find royalty-free images. We've got a list of some of our favorites here.
Some of my text looks weird after I paste it in...what gives?
This is most likely happening if you copied and pasted text from somewhere else (like a Word doc, PDF, or another website), and the copied text carried over some of its old formatting. To fix this, highlight the text in your Text Element and click the Remove Formatting button (it looks like a little eraser). More specifics here.
How do I change my favorites icon (favicon)?
Change your website's favicon by opening the Menu and going to Settings > Website > Favicon. You will need to use an image file saved as .png or .ico that is either 16 x 16 or 32 x 32px.
How do I create a one-page website?
We have a tutorial that will walk you through designing this type of website.
Can I modify the CSS on a template?
If you're familiar with CSS, you can add your own styles by opening the Menu and navigating to Settings > Website > Edit Head, by using the <style> tag. You can also apply styles to our templates by modifying their classes and IDs. More instructions are here.
Can I have different background images on different pages of my website?
Sure! Open the Menu and go to Design > Main > Background and select your background for that page. Then navigate to another page of your website and repeat the process. If you would like a background to be applied to all pages, click on the settings icon of that background and you will see a button to allow you to do this.
Domains and Email:
How do I remove .jimdo.com from my domain?
Once you have upgraded to Pro/Business or Platinum, you can register your own domain, or point an existing domain to your Jimdo site. You can upgrade your subscription by signing into your website and choosing Upgrade from your Site Admin. Free sites can't remove the .jimdo.com from their domain.
How do I transfer my domain to Jimdo?
Transferring your domain to Jimdo is easy! First, get in touch with your current domain registrar and ask them to unlock
the domain, and to give you the auth code. When you have the auth code, start the transfer by opening the Menu and navigating to Settings > Domains & Email >
How do I connect my existing domain with my Jimdo website?
There are two methods for connecting your external domain: changing the nameservers or adding a CNAME entry. Have no idea what that means? No problem. Here's more info on pointing an existing domain to your Jimdo site.
Can I change my domain?
Yes. There is a one-time fee for changing a domain, and the current price is listed at the bottom of this page. If you'd like to change your domain, contact our Support Team and they'll be happy to help you out.
Can I add or buy more domains?
Definitely! Simply log in to your website and click Upgrade in your Site Admin. Prices for add-ons and additional domains are listed on this page.
How do I get the authorization code to transfer my domain away from Jimdo?
Get in touch with our Support Team and we'll be happy to send you the code you need.
Why is my domain contact information available online? How can I hide it?
ICANN requires domain registrars to make domain WHOIS information public. If you'd like to keep your information hidden, contact our Support Team and we can help.
How do I create my email address?
You can easily create email accounts by opening the Menu and going to Settings > Domains & Email > Email Accounts.
How do I forward my Jimdo email to a personal account?
Log in to your Jimdo Webmail account and go to Settings > Email > Auto Forward. Enter your personal email address into the field and check the box to activate the feature.

How do I publish my blog post?
When you’re ready to make the post visible to the world, click on the title of your post. This will open up the settings. Then click the eyeball icon and hit Save.
Can I copy a blog post?
Certainly! Open the Menu, click on Blog and then click the "Copy" button next to the post that you would like to duplicate.
Why are my blog posts showing up on my home page?
By default, blog posts show up on the homepage inside of a Blog Display Element. Feel free to use the drag and drop feature to move this element to another page, or simply delete it from the homepage and add it to another page.
How do I make blog archives?

Why is my entire blog post showing up when I just want to show an excerpt? Or why am I only seeing the beginning of my post when I want to see the whole thing?
Blog posts are displayed inside of a Blog Display Element. You can choose how much of each post to show by clicking the Blog Display Element, then choosing either Post, which will display the entire post, or Teaser, which will let you choose how many elements from each post to display. If you choose Teaser, visitors will click a "Read More" button to read the rest of the post.
How do people subscribe to my blog?
Jimdo automatically generates an RSS feed for your blog that readers can subscribe to. You can find your RSS feed by adding /rss/blog to the end of your URL:
How do I connect my PayPal account?
In order to connect your store to your PayPal account, you will need the following credentials: API username, API password, and API signature. You can find these by logging in to PayPal via
Once you have that information, can enter it in by logging in to your site, opening the Menu and going to Store > Settings > Payment Options.
Are there any transaction fees on sales?
Nope. Jimdo doesn't charge any transaction fees. However, PayPal and Stripe may charge a small processing fee if you accept payments through them.
Why does my site say: "This store has not been completely set up"?
Most likely, you've yet to fill out your Personal Profile. You can do this by clicking on Menu and then navigating to My Account > Profile.
What payment options can I use with my store? Will you be adding more in the future?
You can use the following payment methods:

How do I get my site to show up on Google?
Jimdo provides the tools necessary for your site to rank on Google, but this doesn't happen automatically. Take a look at our search engine optimization guide to get started.
How do I improve my Google ranking?
Google ranks websites based on their content, so it's important that your website contains information that is relevant to the keywords that you want it to rank for. Take a look at our SEO guide for information to get you started on improving your ranking, and read through the SEO section of our blog to build on that foundation.
How do I change the Site Title in my browser tab?
This text can be added or edited by opening the Menu and clicking Site Performance > Settings > SEO > Website > Site Title.
How do I change the title and description of my site in Google search result?
You can change the Page Title and Page Description by navigating to the page you would like to edit, and then clicking the SEO button in the Site Admin. Free users are only able to set one title and description that will apply to all pages on the website.
Can I use Google Analytics with my website?
Definitely! Once you have signed up for Google Analytics, and you have the tracking code, open the Menu and head over to Site Performance > Settings > Google Analytics, and paste it in that text field. Results for your website should start appearing within 24 hours.
How do I verify my site with Google Webmaster Tools?
You can do this by using the HTML Tag option (as opposed to the File upload option) in the Alternate Methods tab. Copy the code, log in to your Jimdo site, click on Menu then Settings > Website > Edit Head, and paste it in. You should then be able to go back to your Google Webmaster Tools account and verify the website immediately.
What if I forgot my password?
You can recover your password at any time by going here.
Simply enter the email address that you have on file, and a new password will be sent there. If you don't see an email within a few minutes, take a look at your spam/junk folder.
How do I change my password?
You can change your password within your site by opening the Menu and going to My Account > Profile > Password.
How do I update my subscription information?
Log in to your site, click on Menu and navigate to My Account > Subscription. In order to transfer your account to another person, change the country of your subscription, or other account questions, please email us at email@example.com from the email address that you have on file, and we will be happy to lend a hand.
How do I change my subscription plan?
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org from your email address on file and we'll be happy to do this for you. You can also upgrade your account directly from your Site Admin by clicking Upgrade.
Can I start a free trial?
Yes! If you don't have a Jimdo site just yet, you can sign up for a free 7-day trial of our Business package, or for a free 7-day trial of the Pro package.
If you already have a Free account but want to try out the other packages, drop us a line and we'll activate a trial for you.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can schedule a cancellation of your account by clicking on the Menu and going to Settings > Account > Subscription Info > Cancel Subscription. If the subscription has already auto-renewed, get in touch with us from the email address on file for your site so that we can do this for you.
How do I delete my website?
Free customers can cancel their accounts by logging in to their site, opening the Menu and going to Settings > Website > Delete account. Pro/Business and Platinum customers have to cancel their account first, and then delete it.
Can I get a refund?
You can receive a refund within the first 14 days of your subscription. Simply click on Menu and head over to My Account > Subscription > Cancel Subscription to get started. See our full refund policy here.
How can I see how much storage I'm using on my website?
Free and Pro customers can see how much storage they are using by logging in to their site, opening the Menu and going to Settings > Website > Storage. Business and Platinum customers don't have a storage limit!

Do you offer phone support?
Sorry, we don't offer phone support. We do our support via email, which is faster and helps keep all of your information in one place no matter which Support Team member is helping you. Also, it makes it easier to send links, screenshots, and other resources that can help solve your problem much faster. So while we know that some people prefer the phone (and we would enjoy chatting with you!) we hope that you find our online support just as helpful.
Why is Facebook showing an old version of my website when I share it?
This happens when Facebook is caching (saving) an old version of your site. To clear this, simply enter the URL into the Facebook Debugger on this page: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
The link should then display the newest information next time that you share it on Facebook.
How do I report phishing sites, scams, or copyright infringements?

Yes! Jimdo does not have a built-in audio playing element, but we recommend checking out soundcloud.com or bandcamp.com. Once you've uploaded your music there and generated the embed code for the playlist, copy and paste it inside a Widget/HTML Element on your Jimdo site.
