Use the Facebook Element to integrate several different Facebook features into your Jimdo website.
You can add a Facebook Element directly from the Elements Menu, after clicking Additional Elements.
Once you add the Facebook Element, you'll have two options for how you want it to work.
- Facebook Button: lets your visitors easily share a link to your webpage with their Facebook friends.
- Facebook Box: shows your Facebook Page's cover photo, name, and number of fans. You can also set it to show your recent posts.
The Facebook Button provides a quick way for visitors to like or share your webpage through their own Facebook accounts. This is particularly useful on blog posts and store item pages.
You can also use the Share Button Element for this purpose, but the Facebook Button lets you show the number of likes as well.
After choosing the Facebook Button, you can adjust the following settings:
Choose between a plain Like Button, a button with a description, or a button with a counter (above or to the right).
Like shows the button without any additional information.
Description displays the number of likes in writing to the right.
Counter (above) displays the number of likes in a bubble above.
Counter (right) displays the number of likes in a bubble to the right.
Choose whether or not you want to display faces next to the number of likes. If checked, your visitors will see the faces of any of their Facebook friends who have previously clicked the Like Button on your page.
"Like" Entire Website
Choose whether you want to allow visitors to like this particular page of your website or your entire website when clicking on the Like button. If checked, visitors who click the Like Button will "like" your entire website, rather than just the page where the button is located.
The Facebook Box displays your Facebook Page's cover photo, name, and number of fans. Visitors can "like" your Facebook profile directly through this box.
Keep in mind that the Facebook Box can only link to a Facebook Page, not a personal Facebook profile.
After choosing the Facebook Box, you can adjust the following settings:
Facebook Page URL
The Facebook Box can only link to public Facebook Pages. You can't use it with your personal Facebook Profile. If you have an official company or fan page, you can put the URL for it here. (Example: http://facebook.com/jimdo)
Choose whether you'd like to display the cover photo of your Facebook Page or not.
Choose whether or not you want to display faces underneath the cover photo. If checked, your visitors will see the faces of any of their Facebook friends who have previously liked your Facebook Page.
Stream recent Facebook posts
Choose whether or not to display your most recent status updates from your Facebook Page.
Other ways to customize your Facebook settings
If you want even more flexibility for how the Facebook Button or Box appear, you can get some custom code directly from Facebook and paste it into a Widget/HTML Element on your Jimdo site.
To configure your Facebook
Button or adjust its width, visit the Facebook Like Button page.
