The design of your site starts with choosing a Layout and ends with selecting Style options. After you've decided on a Layout that you like, adjust the Style settings to make it unique. Adding an attractive Header image and Logo is also a great way to make your website stand out.
The structure of your site, the colors you choose, and the images you add will also have an effect on your overall design. Read more about these topics below.

Site structure refers to the organization of the pages within your site, which you can modify by editing the Navigation. A simple, easy to follow site structure is an important aspect of website design.
We recommend making a plan for your site structure before you begin. Keep the number of main pages in your site to a minimum by turning related pages into subpages.
Before getting started, think about all of the pages you want to create on your site. Consider how the pages are related, and make a structure that limits the number of links in your main navigation. For instance, if you have 3 pages of vacation photos called "Dresden," "San Francisco," and "Tel Aviv," consider making them all subpages of a main page called "Vacations."
Colors and Patterns
In web design, less is more. We recommend using no more than 3 or 4 different colors on your website. This rule applies to Font Settings as well as Background Patterns and Images. Finding complementary colors is also important. You can use sites like ColorBlender.com and Color.HailPixel.com to find colors that work well together.
Avoid changing the font color too often in Text elements. Having text in too many colors can be visually jarring for your visitors. It's also best to stay away from distracting background patterns as well.
Photos and Images
Adding excellent images to the Content Area of your site is a great way to make your site more visually interesting. If you don't have the time to take professional photographs or can't afford to purchase professional images, using stock images is a great solution. Jimdo has partnered with a few companies to provide you with a number of inexpensive and free stock images.
